The clever design of Playa Maya means that there are a
range of different room types available, from well
equipped standard accommodations to romantic ocean-view
rooms and spacious family suites. All rooms are equipped
with quiet yet powerful air-conditioning, remote
controlled cable television, hairdryer, telephone and
room-safe. Black-out curtains have recently been added
to many of the rooms, so that you can enjoy a late sleep
even on the sunniest days. Continental breakfast and
free refills of purified water are also included for all
the room categories.
The most desirable rooms for views and amenities are the Deluxe Balcony or Deluxe Terrace rooms. The Deluxe Balcony rooms are on the upper levels of the property and have a large balcony with a prime ocean view. All these rooms have a king bed and are ideal for couples. The Terrace rooms are on the first floor and have a spacious terrace with a full length hammock. Several of the Terrace rooms have two double beds and are an excellent choice for families with one or two small children.
The other rooms facing the ocean with balconies are either Superior or Standard balcony rooms. Most of these rooms have two double beds, and the main difference between the Superior and Standard rooms is that the Superior rooms have some additional furnishings and have better views.
The Economy suite consists of two connecting rooms that have no views but are very spacious.
Playa Maya also has some unusual rooms that are well worth checking out. The two Junior Suites are shown in the foreground of the photograph and have easy access to the swimming pool and the beach. These suites have a queen bed and a sofa bed and would appeal particularly to families with younger children. The two Deluxe Jacuzzi suites have their own private walled garden furnished with a romantic Jacuzzi tub and also have an extra sofa bed. It's also possible to combine a Deluxe Balcony room and a Superior Balcony room to make a spacious suite that's perfect for a larger family or those with older children.
All rooms have affordable rates for long distance telephone calls direct from the rooms and it's also possible to connect to the Internet using a laptop and your own ISP at the same rates. A free broadband Internet station is also available in reception.
